Slacking Off? 4 Simple Ways to Keep the Motivation

9-5 job aren’t easy to hang on with in long term, especially every day is as routine as usual. Are you getting bored, feeling exhausted and lethargic, starting to be anti-social, and nothing seems to work out? Are you being trap in the 'busy' world?? Or are you already burn out? To you, work is like hell?

If you are sick of being in such a gloomy situation, why not identify some of the key elements that contribute to your work motivation? Beat out that frustration by reengaging with your daily tasks, reorganizing the priorities, and of course, empower your thoughts, the crucial elements that keep you moving!
1. Know Your Job
How much do you know about your job and its impact?
There is no job which is not significant (if so, there is no such thing as ‘job’ at the first instance). Try to map out and visualise how your job contribute to the growth of the company. Realizing this connection will let you feel the sense of belonging and contribution. Take an example, if you are in social media marketing, note down on your company sales that drive by the conversion from social media.

2. Recognise Your Accomplishment
Do you know what you are expected to do? What are your job scopes?
Then review the objectives that you have met in the past. One is at his (or her) peak motivation when they know exactly what they need to do and the ways to do so to accomplish your task. Imagine if your goal is to increase online brand awareness and seeing the number of likes in your company page will definitely give you the energy to further pursue it. Note down your accomplishment in a stick-it-note or in your own journal so that is visible to you at your workplace and you will be reminded that how far you have gone since beginning and how productive you are as compared before.

3. Variety of Tasks
How many different to-do items you have in a day?
If a certain task is not on the top urgent list, try to make your day filled with different task with each of it occupies part of your day. As individual task may require different set of knowledge and skills, by doing so, you won’t feel that the day is just another repetitive day. If you are given a week to do a presentation or report on Area A’s demographic, make sure you allocate a certain hours to do research while preparing the format of presentation. If you diversify your information source – site visit, online, library – you are also making your day more interactive rather than having a day to solely work on your research online and that’s it.

4. Keep Learning
What have you learnt by the end of the day?
“What brings you to this position?” is the first thing you should refer to as those are the motivators that bring you to where you are today. Reaffirm you have meet the items that motivates you to join the organization and you have now meeting those desires. Although daily reflection is effective, getting feedback and suggestions from your colleagues, mentors or supervisors is as good as well. It gives your image in the eyes of the externals and you know better in which area you need to work harder. At the same time, it also deems as recognition of your effort which lead us back to point 2 about your achievements. If you have spare time during your work hours, think of methods that you could further improve your skills set that your job requires (knowing your marketing trend, knowing your customers etc) or set out your priority list for next day.
